Lumpectomy… check!

LumpectomyI took my first step towards beating this cancer yesterday and had a lumpectomy and lymph node biopsy.

In order to prep for my surgery, I had to take a pregnancy test–I laughed and told the nurse about my egg retrieval the week before. They also injected me with a radioactive dye to help find the cancer. Since my surgery, I’ve been peeing blue!!

I was told surgery went well. The doctor told my mom that they found something behind the breast bone that was lit up by the radioactive dye. Not clear on what it is, but he told my mom that the oncologist would talk to me about it.

I don’t remember much about what happened in the operating room, but I was told I asked multiple times for a picture of my lump! They said they took some photos, so hopefully I will get those at my next appointment.

When I woke up, I asked if my boobs were still on me. They assured me they were. I also asked if I still had cancer 😞

I haven’t had a chance to see my incisions, but they are pretty large from what I can tell. I think they are about three inches long. I have tape over them right now and I have to wait until it falls off to see the cuts.

I’m home now and relaxing. My mom and sister are taking good care of me. I can’t wait to get back on my feet and party! Lol! I told the nurses I was partying after I left the hospital!
